Founded in 1993, The Noble Blades are the resident stage combat troupe of the Reston Community Players (Reston, Virginia) and the area's only professionally trained, community theatre-based fight group. Our activities include classes, workshops, demonstrations, fight choreography and a touring show. The Noble Blades are committed to continuing education about stage combat and its performance in an entertaining, educational, historically accurate and safe manner. As part of the Reston Community Players, we support their commitment to "a level of professionalism rarely aspired to in amateur theatre."
Members of the Noble Blades receive extensive schooling from certified teacher's with the Society of American Fight Directors. Numerous members of the group are recognized SAFD actor/combatants themselves. Weapon specialties include:

Reston Community Players (RCP) is committed to excellence in community theatre for Reston, Virginia and metropolitan Washington, D.C.
Incorporated in 1972 as a non-profit organization, RCP evolved from the Reston Players, an allegedly profit-making entity founded in 1966. An all-volunteer group, the Reston Community Players has brought to the public a variety of theatrical experiences over the years, including classics and original plays as well as popular musicals, dramas, mysteries and comedies.
Partially funded by grants from the Arts Council of Fairfax County, we welcome one and all, and offer something for you no matter what your talent.

The Traveling Players, an on-call troupe to provide light entertainment for banquets and other special events
A stage combat troupe, The Noble Blades, provides performance and training with certified instructors
A pool of skilled technicians serve as consultants to other community groups
A scene shop/rehearsal facility with storage space for scenery, costumes and props
An inventory of costumes, props and scenery for rental
The Shelton Hall Memorial Scholarship, given annually to a local high school student dedicated to pursuing the performing arts

Founded in 1977, the Society of American Fight Directors (SAFD) is a non-profit organization of theatre professionals, academicians, friends and supporters, all of whom share a common interest in the art of stage violence. The SAFD stands for the very highest standard in effective and safe theatrical fighting.
