This class is 18 +

Taught by Bess Kaye

Once we have basic consent practices in place, we can explore how distance, movement, shapes, and contact shape characters’ relationships and intimate stories. Actors who wish will be given physical techniques for pursuing objectives and given scenes in a small lab setting. While students can treat this as a lecture course, those who choose to participate will be making physical contact with a scene partner. "

Class Level: Intermediate

PREREQUISITE: "Theatrical Intimacy Basics for the Actor" or some experience with theatrical intimacy as an actor (either a class or in rehearsal) is required. This is not for a student who has never worked on theatrical intimacy before.

Sunday, Feb 15, 2026 @ 10am to 12noon

at the Reston Players’ Lindsay C. Petersen Rehearsal Hall
264 Sunset Park Drive, Herndon, Va 20170

Bess Kaye (she/they) is a theater maker in DC and Baltimore. She has crafted the stories of love and violence for The Shakespeare Theater, Chesapeake Shakespeare Company, Monumental Theater Company, and Nu Sass Productions, among others. We acknowledge that our venue is located on the unceded lands of the Whonkentia Manahoac people and the area built using enslaved labor.

The Noble Blades believe discrimination, harassment, inequality, racism and abuse have no place in the theatre community, stage combat community, or in society as a whole. Regardless of whether theatre is at the community or regional level, we strongly believe that historically excluded groups have voices worth hearing and should be amplified in all areas of theatre and the arts.

The Noble Blades are supported, in part, by the Virginia Commission for the Arts, which receives support from the Virginia General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
